Opening Day Soccer

Center Soccer Park officially opened Saturday October 17, 2020. Shelby County Youth Soccer held their opening day at the newly renovated Center Soccer Park formally known as Ballard Street Park. Opening Ceremonies were held at 11:00 where League President Hector Pineda cut the ribbon to officially open the park. Hector went on to thank the many people and organizations that contributed to the project. This included Mayor David Chadwick, City Council Members (Leigh Porterfield, Jerry Lathan, Howell Howard, Joyce Johnson, Terry Scull, Dr. Randy Collard), City Manager Chad Nehring,and Recreational Director Jason Mitchell. He also thanked the many organizations for their donations to the Soccer Park. These included The John Harris Grant, The 50 Women Club, Rotary Club, Lions Club, and The City of Center. Many players, coaches, and parents filled the park for a day of fun and sportsmanship.

This budget will raise less revenue from property taxes than last year's budget by an amount
of -$18,229, which is a 1.52 percent decrease from last year's budget. The property tax revenue to be raised from new property added to the tax roll this year is $18,419.
