Police Department

Mission Statement

69 The Center Police Department is a public service organization.  Our primary functions are the protection of life, property, order maintenance, and the prevention and investigation of criminal activity.  To accomplish these goals, we are obligated to provide a wide range of law enforcement services including, but not limited to, having the right to make arrests and/or apprehend criminals.  It is our responsibility to deliver the most professional and effective law enforcement services with all available resources.

The Center Police Department must always strive to improve the quality of work produced and services delivered.  The Department must continuously strive to improve the spirit and demeanor by which these services are delivered.  As the first in the criminal justice process, our initial criminal investigations must be thorough and properly documented.  In order to prevent the recurrence of dangerous situations and duplication of our efforts, proper police action must be taken on every call for service received.

Because there will always be more non-emergency calls than we can quickly respond to, it isimperative that when we arrive, we deliver excellent service.  People can understand a lack of resources, but they cannot and should not accept or tolerate unprofessional service.

Always remember, we are law enforcement officers, thereby we have a greater responsibility than the public for proper conduct while on and off duty.

“We are not here merely to make a living.  We are here in order to enable citizens to live more amply, with greater vision, with a finer spirit of hope and achievement.  We are here to enrich the world, and we impoverish ourselves if we forget the errand. ~ Woodrow Wilson”
