Wastewater

The City of Center owns, operates and maintains a wastewater collection and treatment system.  The system consists of service lines running from a house to a sewer main line.  The main lines are typically located in a street or on a public right of way.  The wastewater flows within the main line by a gravity flow.  Like a circulatory system, main lines flow into larger lines which join even larger lines.  Eventually, the wastewater distribution system stops at the wastewater treatment plant.

Sometimes, within the collection system, topography gets in the way and will not allow for gravity flow.  In those instances, the City employs a series of lift stations that pumps the wastewater uphill.

The City of Center operates one wastewater treatment plant on Sardis Road.
