Business Philosophy

In Center, our philosophy is simple:  Create the most favorable business climate in the region which supports businesses and provides them with the opportunities to locate to Center or to expand.   These opportunities can come in the form of financial assistance, technical assistance and research, the extension of utilities, or workforce development.  The Center Economic Development Corporation seeks to take an aggressive stance to fully capitalize on the opportunities given it by the recent oil and gas activity.  During the time that sales tax revenues are at record levels, the EDC is employing those resources to further diversify the local industrial base.

The City has made the conscious choice to become the energy industry service hub for the East Texas Haynesville Shale.  To date, we have recruited a number of support industries to Center.  However, we do not just want to stop there.  We need additional housing opportunities for the new workers, we need more restaurants for them to eat at, we need new retail outlets for them to shop.
